Made in 1962, shortly before the trams were withdrawn, this film features the Number 9 tram on the cross-Glasgow route between Auchenshuggle and Dalmuir West. This was the last tram service to operate in Glasgow and the cars for it were based at Dalmarnock and Partick Depots.
The film opens with the driver and conductress leaving the office at Dalmarnock Depot and heading out to their waiting Coronation Mark I tramcar which they will take initially east to Auchenshuggle and then west across Glasgow to Dalmuir. The scenes include reversing at Auchenshuggle, traveling along Argyle Street, passing under the railway bridge at Partick Hill Station, approaching Anderston Cross, and crossing the Forth and Clyde Canal on the Swing Bridge at Dalmuir.
The route followed by the Number 9 tram was Auchenshuggle (Causewayside Street), Celtic Park, Bridgeton (London Road), Glasgow Cross, Trongate, Argyle Street, Anderston Cross, Kelvingrove Park, Partick Cross, Whiteinch, Scotstoun, Clydebank, Dalmuir (Dumbarton Road), and then return.
